Oregon Dry Cleaners Association
Merle Saunders was President of the Association in 1965 and was the recipient of the first Tom Mosher Award in 1966. In memory of Merle, a scholarship fund was established. This fund provided scholarship recipients with tuition and round-trip air fare to attend the International Fabricare Institute dry cleaning courses in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In 2000, the Education Committee, with the support of the board of directors, began bringing to its members, an aggressive series of intensive workshops and seminars. The ODCA has been recognized nationally as a leader in Educational Opportunities for its members.
The Merle Saunder's Memorial Scholarship Fund continues to work today by
meeting the needs of even more members with these educational opportunities.
