Inc. |

Business Name:
LeatherCare, Inc.
Owner's Name:
Steve Ritt
How long have
we been in business?
We began as Seattle Fur
Service in 1957.
How many locations?
We have offices in Seattle
(headquarters) with a
complete plant and a regional
sales office and small
retail location in Portland.
Our Portland location
is at 401 NE 28th. Telephone
503-234-1625.
Employees?
We have about 35 - most
are full time. Of these
there are three in Portland
who work full time.
Our website is:
www.prestigeseattle.com;
you can reach us at prestigeseattle@msn.com.
We belong to IFI, the
NWDCA and ODCA.
LeatherCare originally
was Seattle Fur Service,
founded in 1957 by Steve's
dad, Al Ritt. The business
filled a crucial void
in the cleaning industry
serving fur salons and
department stores in Seattle.
We began leather cleaning
and established a business
with dry cleaners in Seattle
and surrounding markets
in 1960. We began our
Portland service in 2000
with the acquisition of
Northwest Leather. Our
account representative
Dick Ward joined us after
LeatherCare took over.
Dick has served Portland
area dry cleaners for
over 25 years.
Our area manager is Jeff
Morris (photo above).
He also is an account
representative for outlying
areas such as Longview-Kelso
in Washington, Astoria,
Bend, Salem and Eugene
in Oregon. Jeff was active
in the leather cleaning
industry in Eastern Washington
before joining LeatherCare.
Melinda Morris, Jeff's
wife, manages our Portland
facility and is the key
contact for our Oregon
customers.

Jodi's Closet by Claire Anchick |
 |
|
Jodi and Dan Bittick
owners of Martinizing
Drycleaners of Medford
and Claire and Jack Anchick
owners of Towne &
Country Cleaners of White
City opened Jodi's closet.

"It has come to my attention
that a lot of girls would
like to be able to attend
their prom, but unfortunately
they are unable to afford
to buy a prom gown. I
see gowns coming in our
cleaners all the time
that are to be cleaned,
put away and never worn
again." With that in mind
Jodi opened Jodi's closet.

Getting the word out
to many here in the valley
through TV, newspaper
articles and letters to
the editor Martinizing
and Towne & Country
were able to collect over
200 dresses. Martinizing
Drycleaners cleaned and
pressed them making them
ready for the April 12
event "Princess for a
Night". Other local businesses
donated flowers, food,
drink, gift certificates
for many other prom related
needs, and the Rogue Regency
Hotel donated an event
room and suite to be used
for the girls who came
to try on the dresses
and find just the right
one. The highlight of
the event was being able
to buy a new gown for
a homeless high school
senior from money donated
by the Junior League.
Jodi hopes the event
will become an annual
resource for prom and
other high school formals,
such as homecoming. Over
25 gowns were loaned out
and several pounds of
non perishable food were
donated to the local food
bank.

With the first year behind
us and getting the word
out earlier, I am sure
next year will be even
more successful.
Jodi and Dan are Secretary
and Treasurer of the ODCA
and Claire is District
4 Director. Join the Organization,
get involved and network
with other cleaners throughout
the State!
