and I hope you're enjoying reading the
newsletters as much as I'm enjoying putting
them together. If this is the first issue

view our past issues online, you'll find
a link to them in the Quick Links section.
If you'd like to share this with someone,
just use the forward to a friend link
at the bottom of the newsletter.
We have informative and fun events planned for spring
and summer, read this issue for details.
Our convention committee is hard at work
getting the location and speakers finalized.
So those details will be announced in
an upcoming newsletter.
ODCA Summer Fun - Claire Anchick
I don't know what the weather has been
like in the rest of the state but here
in Southern Oregon we have had a wonderful
WARM Spring. Everything is in bloom and
the sky is very blue. (I'm sure it won't
last), but it did remind me that the ODCA
is planning a Summer event and I need
to start gathering information.
The ODCA board has decided to offer everyone
a chance to relax and network with other
cleaners from around the state.
On Saturday August 21, 2004 Everyone
is invited to take a Rogue River Hellgate
Jetboat Excursion! Experience the thrill
and adventure of an exciting jetboat trip
down the legendary Rogue River in beautiful
southern Oregon. Anyone who loves magnificent
scenery will enjoy the breathtaking trip
through Hellgate Canyon.
We have chosen a cruise and an all you
can eat Country Banquet. The trip is a
4 hour, 36 mile round trip thru Hellgate
Canyon stopping down river at the OK Corral,
an old homestead, for dinner. You'll glide
through narrows and white-water in complete
marine safety and comfort. The wide beamed
jetboat draw just inches of water. A rare,
natural wonder you won't forget!
The cost is $44.00 per adult and $30.00
per child 4-11. Children 3 and under are
free. Food and drinks are included in
the fare.
The boat leaves Grants Pass at 4:15PM.
Bring a jacket, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Your pilot will get you as close as possible
to animals and birds along the river.
Be ready for Hellgate's famous boat spins,
the front of the boat is usually a wetter
ride; however, no seats are guaranteed
to be dry. Don't miss the boat! Contact
me right now for you reservation. These
trips do fill up so the sooner we know
how many will be traveling the sooner
I can reserve the space.

Please Welcome Ryan & Joy King
- Dry Cleaning Station |
 |
Dry Cleaning Station
is a National Franchise that was
founded in 1993. Neither Ryan nor
Joy ever thought they would enter
the world of dry cleaning!! However,
the franchise owners, expertise,
track record, and environmental
commitment made them believers!
The other side of their business
includes developing the franchise
in the state of Washington as well
as finding 4 other franchisees for
the Portland market.
They are an environmentally friendly
dry cleaner with a focus on everyday
low prices, highest quality cleaning,
creating a comfortable atmosphere
and outrageous customer service.
Their plant is 3,750 square feet
and was completely installed by
Peterson Equipment. They use GreenEarth
solvent in a Union HL860 machine.
They are both Oregon natives.
Ryan grew up in Milwaukie and
graduated from the University
of Oregon - he has a background
in mortgage banking & high-tech
sales. Joy grew up in SW Portland
and graduated from the University
of Washington - she is a CPA and
real estate agent. While many
Oregonians find it unthinkable,
a Duck and a Husky really do work
well together! .
As the newest franchise to open,
they just hosted their national
franchise convention March 4-6th,
2004 - bringing 40+ people from
all over the country to Beaverton!
In addition, March 4th, 7-9AM,
they hosted Good Day Oregon's
Drew Carney for an expose on Dry
Cleaning!.

Web Site Info - webmaster, Leslie
Kettenhofen |
 |
|
In February we had 4,252 web pages accessed.
The most visited pages were,
the Home page, followed
by several pages from the
Consumer Section and the
allied trades page. I continue
to add relevant information
to the consumer section,
as this seems to be getting
a bunch of action and it's
a great way to educate the
consumer. If anyone has
additional ideas for topics
for this page, let me know. |
| If you haven't stopped by our new Library/Books
for sale page, I've compiled
everything from Textile
preservation reference books,
to the Dolores Johnson Murder
Mystery Series that center
around Dry Cleaner Mandy
Dyer. Mandy inherits the
Dry Cleaners from her uncle
and then seems to fall into
one murder mystery after
another. They're light hearted
and fun revolving completely
around the cleaners and
it's customers. The series
starts with Taken to the
Cleaners and finishes with
Homicide and old Lace. |
