  • Greetings!

This month, I'd like to thank Astoria Cleaners for submitting their member profile. If you'd like to share your story, please drop me an email and I'll send you some questions to help get you started.

I spent last weekend in Newport with Kathey setting up stuff for convention. The Hallmark Resort is a great place, with amazing views and lots of sandy beach to walk on. So start planning to attend. The two photos included with Kathey's story, I snapped with my digital camera while we were up there.

Make sure you check out the interesting links around the web. Each month I try to post something fun, useful or both in this section. If you have a link that fits that description please send it to me.

ODCA is working on several items for its’ members. Hallmark Inn
Sunset

We are still working with DEQ on the fact sheets and will let you know more when we have the information.

ODCA was sent new information from the state boiler inspector on minimum boiler operational standards & minimum boiler maintenance standards. I contacted our Allied Trade member Jeff Tazelaar/Parker Boiler for his input and also spoke with Mike Graham/Head inspector for the state. There are several new requirements, daily, weekly, & quarterly logs. Members can access all the above information from the state and print log sheets Jeff was kind enough to provide on the website, www.oregondrycleaners.org in the “members only” section. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are a fact of life in the dry cleaning business. ODCA has put together a seminar on Sat. May 14th in Salem to help dry cleaners understand MSDS. There is limited seating and it is filling up quick. You can register on-line or by contacting me.

ODCA is also working on a couple of other seminars for this year and will keep you informed. Hallmark
Rooms

Convention 2005 is OCT. 7-9 in Newport at the Hallmark Resort. Some changes to the format have been made – the main one being a keynote speaker for Sat. night. Mark your calendars now and watch for the registration information coming soon.

As always ODCA is only as good as its members and their input. Please contact me with any input you have. KButters@oregondrycleaners.org or 503-871-5144.
