Greetings!
Just a last minute reminder that there is still time to register for the upcoming classes in association with the National Cleaners Association. Don't miss this opportunity to experience and learn, with two of the the most qualified educators in the country. The Wonders and Woes of Wetcleaning with Ann Hargrove and Confidence at the Counter with Alan Spielvogel. You and your staff have opportunities to attend in Medford, Eugene & Portland. See article below for registration details. Meanwhile Convention, is just around the corner and your convention committee Chair - Brian Olson, has some new details for you. Start making plans now, as once again we'll be doing a table top display. Since my cleaners is located in Florence, we're off the beaten path from salesman. This is my one chance a year without having to leave the state to visit and get information on new products and equipment from our Northwest Vendors. Last year, I got to visit with our new Adco representative Phil Thorsteinson, Steve Carrow from Streets, Westport Supply's friendly salesman were handing out all kinds of samples, Capitol City Door, had a fantastic display on Automatic Door's, Peterson Equipment was there with all the latest information on any type of new equipment you might need for your plant, and Kleerwite Chemical was handing out Samples, plus there was a nice display from Covers Etc. We also had displays on two Point of Sale Systems Cleansuite and Dajisoft Pro. While we're not a big show, I find the personal interaction, and the chance to really talk to these companies refreshing. Hope to see you all at these upcoming events!

Convention Update - Brian Olson | |||
I look back on my almost 10 years as a member
of ODCA and think about what
it is that I like about being a member. Is it
the opportunity to learn? With
all the education ODCA brings to Oregon I’m
sure that’s an important
element. Is it our “voice”?
ODCA speaks out loud and
strong for our benefit with the legislature, with the
DEQ, and with the two
national associations, IFI and NCA.
While I realize how important all this is, it’s
the chance I get at convention
to meet, learn and network with other dry cleaners
that does it for me. It’s
at convention that I have met so many friends with
whom I have a shared goal
and vision to be successful business people.
That is also why I so much
enjoy serving on the board, getting involved and
most importantly, chairing
the convention committee.
And I am really excited about the location of this year’s convention.
The Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde is Oregon’s largest casino and a very popular destination to “get away” for a little diversion. And, as a popular destination the lodge at Spirit Mountain fills quickly. So quickly in fact, that it sells out almost every night of the year. Why do I tell you this? I tell you this because the closest lodging to Grand Ronde is 27 miles away in Lincoln City and I don’t want you to miss out on all the ODCA convention has to offer this year.
So here is what you need to do.
We have a large number of rooms blocked for our event but they can only hold them for us until September 20th. Early reservations are a must. You can make your reservation, even before you register to attend the convention my calling the Spirit Mountain Lodge at 1-888-668- 7366. But, before you do that, here’s a little secret to save you $20.00 per room per night! Go online to http://spirit- mountain.com, click on “Coyote Club” and fill out the form to join. It’s free! When you call to make your reservations for October 20th and 21st, just say yes, you are a member and you will get the automatic $20.00 room rate reduction. (Don’t forget to mention that you are with the Oregon Dry Cleaners Association!) Driving your RV? Even better, there is no charge to park your RV if you are a member of the Coyote Club. Just remember, when you arrive at the lodge, you will have to go to the Coyote Club desk and pick up your card before you check in!
That’s about it for now. In the next edition of this newsletter we’ll bring you the latest information on our speakers and our vendors.
See you in October!
