Can you believe its barely a month before we all meet up again? It seems like we were just at Spirit Mountain. This year has flown by.

As I said in last months newsletter, I will be concentrating on all things convention. And this month's newsletter is just that, a little more in-depth look at what is coming up. I've had the chance to meet with and go over the presentations our speakers will be giving and I think you are going to like them. They have some really valuable information that you can use, not only in your business, but personal life as well.

It wont just be our speakers that you will like. We have a few surprises in store for you too!

This event comes together through a lot of hard work by very dedicated people. I would like to acknowledge the members of my convention committee, Kathey Butters, Laurie Eckstrom and Bill Thomason for all their input and feedback. I would also like to thank President Scott McClure for his great leadership and support, and of course it goes without saying, (but I'll say it anyway), our "Mistress of the Web", President Elect Leslie Kettenhofen.

There are two easy ways to register. You can go online to the Convention Page of the ODCA website, (be sure to include the information requested in the notes section!) or simply print out the Mail-In Registration form and send it in.

With convention coming at the beginning of October this year, we will not be sending out a newsletter October 1st. Don't worry though, November's will be filled with all the latest news from Kah-Nee-Ta as well as photos of you and your friends having a great time.

You will also want to read about my continuing search for a PERC alternative. Will it be DrySolv? DF-2000? Something else? Or will I keep the solvent that has served me so well for so long. I'm doing more research and will have even more done by then. I will share with you what I've learned and why I make the choice I do. (That is, if I've made a choice by then)

So here it is, Labor Day Weekend. Three days of rest and relaxation. May you have a safe, happy and restful holiday.

    See you at Kah-Nee-Ta!

Identity Theft, Consumer and Business Fraud

Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personally identifying information, like your name, Social Security number, or credit card number, without your permission, to commit fraud or other crimes.

The FTC estimates that as many as 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year. In fact, you or someone you know may have experienced some form of identity theft. The crime takes many forms. Identity thieves may rent an apartment, obtain a credit card, or establish a telephone account in your name. You may not find out about the theft until you review your credit report or a credit card statement and notice charges you didn't make-or until you're contacted by a debt collector.

Identity theft is serious. While some identity theft victims can resolve their problems quickly, others spend hundreds of dollars and many days repairing damage to their good name and credit record. Some consumers victimized by identity theft may lose out on job opportunities, or be denied loans for education, housing or cars because of negative information on their credit reports. In rare cases, they may even be arrested for crimes they did not commit.

Awareness is an effective weapon against many forms of identity theft. Be aware of how information is stolen and what you can do to protect yours, monitor your personal information to uncover any problems quickly, and know what to do when you suspect your identity has been stolen.

Armed with the knowledge of how to protect yourself and take action, you can make identity thieves' jobs much more difficult. You can also help fight identity theft by educating your friends, family, and members of your community.

Come meet Jan Margosian, Consumer Information Coordinator for the Oregon State Department of Justice as she shows us how to avoid becoming a victim and what to do if we are. You wont want to miss this dynamic speaker and the valuable information she has to offer us!
